Kotzebue Regional Jail
Information on
Turning Yourself in to serve your Sentence
Regarding Conditions of Release
Your pre-sentencing conditions are still in effect until you report to jail to serve your sentence. For instance if you cannot contact someone, or consume alcohol, or drive - DON'T! You can be arrested for Violation of your Conditions and/or be charged with a new crime. Violation of Conditions is a new Crime as of late 2000 and is chargeable as a Misdemeanor.
What do I bring to the Jail
As little as possible. Court papers, one set of clothes, glasses or contacts, medications (Pharmacy original bottles marked and dated prescriptions only) and money. Do NOT bring tobacco products of any kind - they will be destroyed. The jail will provide daily needs of clothes, soap, shampoo etc. Any items you bring will be stored, and storage space is very limited. Bring a coat if you'll be getting out during the winter.
The Court said to "report by THIS Date"
Don't wait til the last day to try and report. You can report to the jail anytime between sentencing and your "report by" date (see below). Just be sure to call the jail before you are due to TSI. Call ahead especially if you're flying in from out of town.
Not turning yourself in on time(as of January, 2002) will result in a new Violation of Conditions charge (see above).
