KVFD Volunteer Program

When joining the volunteer department, there are several areas that you can provide services in such as Fire Fighting, Ambulance Crew (Driver, Emergency Trauma Technician-ETT, Emergency Medical Technician-EMT and Paramedic). Most of our members are cross-trained as Firefighters/ETT, EMT 1, 2, 3 or Paramedics. If you join as a firefighter but do not want to be involved in the ambulance service, you don’t have to; you have the choice of what area you want to volunteer in, the same goes if your just interested in the ambulance service. “Once you have become a member, you should know that you are not stuck in the field that you applied for, you can become orientated into the Fire Fighting or Ambulance areas at any time.”
