Nicole Strickland Biographical Information

Nicole is a life-long Alaskan resident, born in Soldotna. She moved to Kotzebue when she was four to live with her grandparents (Dan and Lucy Stalker). A graduate of Kotzebue High School in 1993, she went on to obtain her Certified Nursing Assistant license from the Alaska Technical Center. Nicole began working at Maniilaq Health Center in 1996. She worked in Records, Emergency Room, and Outpatient Services until 1998.
Nicole initially began her law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer, in 1998, before she was able to obtain a full-time position with KPD. She attended ALET Academy 22 in Sitka, and upon completion of her one-year probationary period became Kotzebue's first Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) certified female officer. In addition to her duties in patrol, she also is trained in Arson Investigations.
She is a certified Police Instructor and trains in Defensive and Control Tactics. She provides this instruction to departmental personnel and VPSO / VPO's in the NANA Region. Nicole also helps promote harmony between KPD and our community through her personal committment to Community Oriented Policing. She was a presenter at the High School during this year's Career Fair and was an active participant in the Neighborhood Night Out Program at the local Boys and Girls Club.
